The end of Sitemeter…
I’ve used Sitemeter on and off for years now – generally it’s been really great but in recent weeks I’ve found that it seems to be generally slow to respond and has become borderline unreliable. I’ve just been too lazy to try and figure out a new solution.
Today however I came across this post at the e-Clippings blog.
Apparantly Sitemeter has started putting a third party’s cookie on visitor’s computers. In this case the third party is an advertising company which uses the cookie to track your online activities.
So as of now Sitemeter is off this blog (and being removed from my others), I’ve got Google Analytics running as well but I’d be keen to hear of any other good suggestions.
The e-Clippings blog has links to a post which describes how to remove the cookies.
